Lehigh Wins Five Events Across Two Meet Weekend

PISCATAWAY, N.J./LEWISBURG, Pa. - Lehigh women's track and field split their team between two competitions this weekend. The majority of the distance team made the trip to Bucknell University for the Bison Outdoor Classic, while the remaining athletes traveled to New Jersey for Rutgers Relays.
Rutgers Relays
Grace Kennedy was the only individual track event champion in New Brunswick. The senior won the 400 meter hurdles running 1:02.21. She was one of three Mountain Hawks to finish in the top 10. Lanae Carrington ran 1:04.34 to finish fourth and Adelaide Videon-Perino placed ninth with the time of 1:06.31.
The other track event that Lehigh won was the 4x400 meter relay. Kennedy, Kayleigh Jamieson, Kasey White, and Jade Sanders won the event in 3:53.42, nine seconds ahead of any other team.
Grace Aggen came away with two top five finishes. She won the discus throw with her best toss of the season, landing at 45.97 meters. The senior placed fourth in the shot put, throwing the weight 14.05 meters.
Laura Reigle won the pole vault, jumping 3.88 meters. Seniors Lena Perlmutter and Sarah Goode placed within the top six, landing in fifth and sixth, respectively. Both women cleared the 3.23-meter bar, but Perlmutter did so in fewer attempts to give her the higher placement.
Sanders reached the podium in the 400 meter dash. The sophomore crossed the line third at 56.16.
Grace Nation took third in the triple jump, leaping a personal best 12.06 meters. The senior improved her mark as Lehigh's third furthest triple jumper all-time by four centimeters. Casey Talamini-Kelemen placed ninth, jumping 11.31 meters. Nation was also Lehigh's top long jumper, placing 13th. She cleared 5.29 meters.
Lyssi Penn finished fourth in the 100 meter hurdles. She crossed the line at 14.53m making her the eighth fastest 100 meter hurdler in Lehigh history.
Harper Glennon earned two top 10 finishes in the sprinting events. She placed ninth in the 200 meter dash, running 25.30. In the 100 meter, she placed tenth, running 12.23. Gianna Mangili was Lehigh's fastest 100 meter runner at Rutgers, running 12.10 and finishing eighth. This was a personal record for the senior, which makes her the fourth fastest 100 meter runner in team history.
Three Mountain Hawks placed within the top 10 in the high jump. Gaea DePass led the way in eighth. She cleared the 1.60 meter bar, which equaled her outdoor best. Both Melanie LaCorte and Anna Troutman jumped 1.55 meters, which tied them for 10th.
Lehigh's best placement in both the javelin throw and 800 meter run was 11th. Jamieson placed 11th in the 800. The first-year ran 2:16.57, which was a personal record. 11th place in the javelin was Meghan Miller. The sophomore threw 35.02 meters.
Bison Outdoor Classic
Abby Klebe won the 800 meter event at Bucknell. The senior ran 2:05.99. Lauryn Heskin ran a personal best to win her heat and place sixth in the event. The graduate student ran 2:09.82, moving her up to sixth on Lehigh's all-time outdoor performance list. Amber Barrios placed 16th, crossing the line at 2:12.04.
Klebe was also Lehigh's top runner in the invitational section of the 1500 meters. The senior placed 11th, running 4:27.50. Lily Schindler placed fifth in the unseeded section. The first year ran 4:40.18, lowering her personal record by 10 seconds.
Grace Hughes destroyed her personal record to place 18th in the invitational 5000 meter section. The junior ran 16:47.58, lowering her personal record by 26 seconds. This time put her fourth on Lehigh's all-time outdoor performance list. Grace Trimmer finished third in the unseeded section of the 5000 meter run. She ran 17:48.82, a new personal record for the first-year.
Dakota Russell and Elizabeth Ehrhardt both smashed personal records to earn top 25 finishes in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Russell ran 11:18.43 to place 19th, a nine second improvement on her personal best. Ehrhardt ran a massive 27-second personal best. The sophomore finished at 11:28.32, placing 25th.
The Mountain Hawks divide their athletes again for competition next weekend. Lehigh will send athletes to Charlottesville for the Virginia Challenge on April 17-18, and back to Rutgers University for the ECAC/IC4A Championships, April 18-19.
