Kravitz, Berman Set School Records as Men's Track And Field Competes In Two Meets

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams had another busy weekend, as it took part in two meets.
Splitting up once again, the Mountain Hawks found themselves competing in the Villanova Invitational and the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational hosted by Boston University.

Sprints and Middle Distance
The Mountain Hawks had two runner finish in the 800-meter dash finals, with senior Kyle Kirk finishing 15th with a time of 1:53.09 and David Fletcher finishing 39th with a time of 1:56.54.
Long Distance
In the mile run, junior Matt Kravitz finished 10th with a tie of 4:05.69 while freshman Kyle Burke finished 34th with a time of 4:17.85. Kravitz time of 4:05.69 broke a school record in the mile, breaking the old record of 4L07.54 set by Alex L'Heureux back in 2002.
Another record was broken for Lehigh, this time it came in the 1000-meter race, as senior Kyle Berman finished second with a time of 2:25.96 and sophomore Sean Brown finished third with a time of 2L26.81, Berman's time broke Steve Richardson's time of 2:26.25.
The 3000-meter race saw junior Kip Yegon finish with a time of 8:48.01 while senior Samuel Layding finished with a time of 8:50.33. The 5000-meter race saw sophomore Seth Slavin finish fourth with a time of 14:56.16 while sophomore Michael Mitchell finished seventh with a time of 15:13.07.

Sprints and Middle Distance
Sophomore Matt Solomon led the Mountain Hawks in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.17 while freshman Trevor Thenga finished with a time of 7.49. Freshman Michael Nardelli finished 10th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.71.
Solomon and Thenga would once again lead the Mountain Hawks, this time in the 200-meter dash with times of 22.97 and 24.01. Junior Joe Espinal finished ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.89 while sophomore Evan El-Halawani finished with a time of 52.18. The 800-meter run saw freshman Nicholas Crociata finish 12th with a time of 1:55.93 with junior Ryan Paradise close behind with an 18th place finish and a time of 1:58.71.
Long Distance
Freshman Jack Good finished 11th in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:38.49 while fellow freshman Avery Lederer finished 19th with a time of 8:51.05.
Relays
The squad of El-Halawani, Nicholas Owens, Nardelli and Vincent Poligano finished with a time of 3:34.62.
Field Events
Poliganano finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.92m with sophomore Obosa Ogbeide finishing eight with a mark of 1.87m. Solomon was active on the field side of things with a 10th place finish in the long jump with a 6.55m mark. Senior Givens was right behind with a 11th place finish and mark of 6.52m. Junior Erik Metz took eight place in the triple jump with a mark of 13.02m.
Senior Max Jordan and junior Joey Kelly took ninth and 10th place in the pole vault with marks of 4.55m and4.45m.
Senior Alexander Rodgers finished 10th in the shot put with a mark of 13.35m while junior Adam Freesman was next up with an 11th place finish and a mark of 13.12m. Sophomore Anastasios Mouzakis took fourth place in the weight throw while fellow sophomore Riley LaRiviere finished fifth with a mark of 15.86m.
The Mountain Hawks are back in action next week at the Bucknell Tuneup in preparation for the Patriot League Indoor Championship.
