Men's Track And Field Competes In The Bison Tune-Up in Preparation For The Patriot League Indoor Championship

LEWISBURG, PA. – Competing in its final event before the Patriot League Indoor Championship at Navy, the Lehigh men's track and field team saw numerous student-athletes finish in top-three in their respective events as the Brown and White took part in the Bucknell Tune-up Meet Friday evening.
Sophomore Evan El-Halawani finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.53 while junior Kyle Sult took fifth place with a time of 8.57.
The 400-meter dash saw freshman Michael Naredelli and Harrison Ernst post the top two times in their respective section, with times of 53.35 and 53.78 being recorded.
Junior Joes Espinal took home first place in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:05.66, which was good enough to qualify him for the IC4A's. In the 1000-meter run, David Fletcher placed in the top five with a time of 2:32.15.
The mile run saw two Mountain Hawks finish in the top five, as junior Kip Yegon finished third with a time of 4:19.95 and freshman Kyle Burke finished fifth with a time of 4:20.28. Moving to the 3000-meter run, junior Jeffrey Kirshenbaum, sophomore Brad DeMassa and freshman Avery Lederer finished second, third and fourth with times of 8:38.74, 8:54.03 and 8:56.22.
In the field events, freshman Vincent Polignao finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.90 m (6' 2.75''). In the triple jump, junior Erik Metz finished second with a mark of 12.98m (42' 7''). The pole vault had three Mountain Hawks finish in the top-five, as Joey Kelly led the way with a second-place finish with a mark of 4.95m (16' 2.75'') which also qualified him for the IC4A. Senior Max Jordan and junior Kyle Sult were next, as the pair tied for fourth with marks of 4.50m (14' 9'').
Another event to see multiple Mountain Hawks in the top five was the shot put, with junior Adam Freesman taking first place with a mark of 13.96m (45' 9.75''). Sophomore Riley LaRiviere finished third with a mark of 13.48m (44' 2.75'') while sophomore Anastasios Mouzakis took fifth with a mark of 12.75m (41' 10'').
The Mountain Hawks will next see action down in Annapolis, Md, as they take part in the two day Patriot League Indoor Championship hosted by Navy going on from February 15 through February 16.
