ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Two top of the podium finishes have the Lehigh women's track and field team in fifth place with 25.5 points after day one of the Patriot League Championship meet. Navy currently leads the women's field with 70.5 points, followed by Army and Bucknell (33) and Boston University (32).
Sophomore Brittany Curtin earned a first place finish in the weight throw, throwing a 18.29m (60' .25"), earning Lehigh 10 team points. Curtin's winning throw was a personal record. This comes off a win in the discus at last May's Patriot League outdoor championships.
The 4x800 relay team of Mary Casey, Sophie Antonioli, Jade Sessions and Clare Severe earned a first place finish with a time of 8:48.80, good for a Patriot League Championship meet record and facility record, in addition to shaving nearly seven seconds off the school record set in 2016.
Sophomore Madisyn Hawkins finished in third place in the pole vault. She jumped a 3.65m (11' 11.75"), trailing Navy's Kaitlyn Stafford and Holy Cross' Christa Moore.
Senior Tyler Bannister was the top Mountain Hawk in the pentathlon, scoring 3,118 points. Bannister won the high jump portion of the pentathlon with a 1.64m (5' 4.5") jump, and sophomore Noa Levy came in third with a 1.61m (5' 3.75") jump in that same event. Levy's score in the pentathlon (2960) was a personal record for her, and she also earned a personal record in the long jump.
In the first round of the 200m, freshman Madison Hackman ran a 25.50, good for both a personal record and a school record.
Freshman Carly Carpino PR'ed in the pentathlon 800m with a time of 2:36.14. Freshman Hannah Figueroa also earned a personal record during the meet, running the pentathlon 800m in 2:31.30.
