BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fresh off beating Boston University for the first time in school history, the Lehigh men's swimming and diving team will be busy this weekend. After defeating Boston last Saturday, the Mountain Hawks will swim in a tri-meet at West Chester on Friday with Bloomsburg University, followed by another road contest at Rider on Saturday.

Last time out, Lehigh opened its season on a high note, using a team effort to defeat the Terriers, 170-118.

"High energy and confidence is pretty much it," stated sophomore Glenn Lasco. "The atmosphere inside Jacobs Pool was amazing. Our team was cheering each other on and seeing other guys do well gives us such a jolt."

Senior leader Walker Wilson shined throughout the first meet. Wilson recorded three wins on the day to help his team. In the 100 freestyle, Wilson recorded a time of 47.08, while tallying a time of 4:37.69 in the 500 freestyle.

The sophomore Lasco totaled wins on the day. In the 200 freestyle, Lasco used a late charge to edge his opponent with a time of 1:42.34.

Lehigh's relay team showed to be a huge strength for them last weekend. In the 200 medley relay, Owen Thomas, Connor Sept, Teddy Smith and Greg Giannella won with a time of 1:34.59, while Wilson, Smith, Lasco and Caleb Eberly took first in the 400 freestyle with a time of 3:08.79.

The Brown and White also got strong contributions from Collin Hanlon (1st) and Nico Lastauskas (3rd) in the 1000 free, and then Joe Huber in the 100 backstroke (52.60).

In diving, captain Tyler Keller performed very well. In the 1-meter dive, Keller scored 250.64, followed by a score of 298.50 in the 3-meter dive.

"The key this weekend is carrying over our energy from last weekend. Supporting each other throughout all the races is important. Some guys might be struggling towards the end of the race and it's our job to cheer them on to help give them that extra push."

Last year, the Brown and White defeated West Chester, 164-177, while then beating Rider, 173-127.

West Chester's team comes into Friday's play with a 2-0 mark. The Golden Rams knocked off Southern Connecticut State and Shippensburg. Rider lost its season opener to Seton Hall, but then finished second at the Rutgers Invitational last weekend.

After West Chester and Rider this weekend, the Mountain Hawks will return to Jacobs Pool next Saturday as they will welcome in Loyola Maryland.
