Leggett set to suit up for Team Canada at Fall Classic this weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's lacrosse standout Teddy Leggett will represent his country this weekend. It was announced on Wednesday that the junior has been named to the roster for the Canadian Men's Senior Field Lacrosse Team. The game will serve as the beginning of the evaluation process for Canada as it builds towards the World Championships in 2022. Leggett is one of 23 players named to the men's roster, 12 of which are current collegiate players.

Leggett and Canada will play the U.S. on Friday at 8 p.m. They will then face the University of Virginia on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. On Sunday, Canada and the U.S. will participate in exhibition games played by the new World Lacrosse trial rules. All games will be played at the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. and can be seen live on Lax Sports Network.

"This is a terrific opportunity for Teddy to showcase his abilities on a huge stage," said Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese. "Not only will he be able to represent his country and begin the quest for a coveted Team Canada roster spot, but he will also be able to compete against the reigning world champions in Team USA and the reigning national champions in UVA in the same weekend. We are all extremely proud of Teddy for earning the invite and we know he will make a tremendous impact for Team Canada this weekend."

Leggett is a native of Vaughan, Ontario and has made a big impact over his first two years at Lehigh. Named second team All-League in 2018 and 2019, Leggett owns 140 groundballs and 43 caused turnovers in his career – on pace to leave Lehigh among the program's all-time greats in both categories. After recording 61 groundballs and 20 caused turnovers as a freshman, he tallied 79 groundballs and 23 caused turnovers as a sophomore – both totals good for second on the team. Leggett garnered the J. Daniel Nolan Award following his freshman campaign, presented to the top first-year male student-athlete.
