The Mountain Hawks will look to build upon their recent success as they take on the Black Knights of Army West Point on Saturday.
In a return to form for the Mountain Hawks, the Brown and White secured just the second 80-plus point scoring night this season behind junior Gena Grundhoffer's season-high 18 points. Along with Grundhoffer, Lehigh saw three other players reach double figures in scoring as junior Camryn Buhr (15), junior Cameryn Benz (11) and freshman Emma Grothaus (10) all scored 10 or more points. This is just the fourth time all season that Lehigh has had four players reach double figures in scoring.
The victory snapped a three-game losing streak to improve Lehigh to 12-6 overall and 4-3 in Patriot League play. The Mountain Hawks are now 8-3 overall this season at home along with a 2-1 home record in league play this season.
Against Colgate, Lehigh scored 20+ points in all four quarters of play. This is the first time Lehigh has ever accomplished this feat since moving over from playing halves. The closest the Mountain Hawks came to this was back on November 23, 2015 against Delaware State, scoring 20+ in the first three quarters before falling short with 16 in the fourth quarter.
Lehigh is 11-0 this season when leading its opponents this season. Against Colgate, the Mountain Hawks took a 44-24 advantage into the half.
After converting one 3-pointer against the Raiders, senior Hailey Pascoe is now just one 3-pointer away from reaching the 100 made 3-pointers in her history. Currently ninth all-time in Lehigh women's basketball history, Pascoe is looking to become just the ninth player to reach 100 career 3-pointers in Lehigh women's basketball history.
Army will be the fifth team from New York the Mountain Hawks will face this year, and will look to increase its record to 5-0. So far, Lehigh has wins over Binghamton, Cornell, LIU Brooklyn and Colgate.
All-time against the Black Knights, Lehigh trails the series 31-35, with the most recent meeting coming in last season's Patriot League Quarterfinals where Army won 62-60 in overtime. The first meeting between these two schools came on January 6, 1984 where Army won a close 74-72 game over Lehigh. Army is also 4-1 in its last five meetings with Lehigh.
The Black Knights of are coming into this contest with an 8-10 overall record and 3-4 Patriot League record. In its last five games, Army is 2-3 in the last five along with a 58-39 loss to Holy Cross in its most recent performance.
Madison Hovren led the way with 12 points and 20 rebounds for her 13th double-double of the year and she is now fourth all-time in scoring at Army with 1,475 points in her career. Rookies Sarah Bohn and Lindsey Scamman added eight points each, while Kate Murray had seven points and seven boards in the loss.
Hovren comes in leading Army in multiple categories, including leading the Black Knights in scoring per game (17.9), rebounds per game (12.9) and steals per game (1.5). Jess Lewis is currently leading the Black Knights in assists per game (4.8) and minutes played per game (33.6). Lindsey Scamman is the leader in blocks per game with 0.7.
After Army, Lehigh will take part in a four-game homestand beginning on January 30 against Loyola (Md.) and concluding on February 13 against Bucknell.
