Mountain Hawks Begin Homestand With American On Saturday
1/18/2019 3:00:00 PM | Women's Basketball
Originally scheduled for 4:30 p.m., Saturday's contest was moved to 2:30 p.m. due to the winter storms expected in the Lehigh Valley this weekend.
It has not been the best stretch for the Mountain Hawks, especial in the first quarter. During the past two games the Mountain Hawks scored two points against Boston University last Saturday and three points all on free throws against Bucknell. In total, Lehigh has gone 1-for-26 from the field in the first quarter during its two-game skid. This is the first time all season that Lehigh has lost consecutive games in a row.
Against Bucknell, junior Camryn Buhr was the leading scorer with nine points against Bucknell with fellow junior Cameryn Benz one point away with eight on the night. Benz was also the leading rebounder, bringing in eight rebounds against Bucknell.
Senior Hailey Pascoe is three 3-pointers away from becoming just the ninth person in Lehigh women's basketball to record 100 made 3-pointers in their career. Currently, Pascoe is ninth in all-time made 3-pointers.
Coming into this contest, Lehigh is 13-30 against the Eagles, with all 13 wins coming under head coach Sue Troyan's tenure. The Eagles have also won four of the last five against the Mountain Hawks as well.
The Eagles will be coming in with an even 8-8 overall record and a 4-1 league record, losing to Bucknell 71-56 to open Patriot League play before defeating Colgate, Navy, Army, and Loyola (Md.)
In their last game against the Greyhounds, American won 82-38 for its fourth straight league win. In the win, the Eagles featured five players in double figures in scoring with Cecily Carl leading American with 15 points.
So far this season, Kaitlyn Marenyi leads the Eagles in scoring with 13.4 while Elina Koskimies close behind with 12.6. In total, American features four players averaging double figures in scoring this season. Cecily Carl is the leading rebounder with 5.3 per game while Marenyi and Koskimies are tied with 32.6 minutes per game.
