Mountain Hawks compete against regional power Temple

PHILADELPHIA - The Lehigh men's rowing team wrapped up its pre-Dad Vail Regatta schedule on Saturday by competing against Temple on the Schuykill River in Philadelphia. The day served as a strong final tune-up against a quality opponent as the Mountain Hawks eye their championship race next month, the Dad Vail Regatta.

"We raced well against a really tough Temple team," said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. "At the end of the day, they ended up being faster than us, but we were able to hold our own against them."

In one race, the Lehigh Varsity Eight finished behind the Temple V8, but ahead of the Temple Second Varsity Eight. The second race featured the Mountain Hawks' Second Varsity Eight against the Owls' Freshmen Eight and Third Varsity Eight.

"Racing a top-level team like Temple going into Dad Vails is awesome," said Conley. "It tells us where we are and gives us a little bit of confidence with holding our own. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do at Dad Vails."

Lehigh Rowing returns to action on Friday, May 11 as the men compete in the Dad Vail Regatta while the women compete in the Patriot League Championship.
