Woltersdorf Named Rookie of the Week

PATRIOT LEAGUE RELEASE

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh baseball freshman pitcher Peter Woltersdorf was tabbed the Patriot League Rookie of the Week as the league announced its weekly award winners Monday evening.

In his collegiate debut, Woltersdorf earned a victory over Eastern Kentucky last Saturday by tossing 3.0 scoreless and hitless innings in relief. The rookie righty entered the game in the seventh inning with the Mountain Hawks trailing, 4-2, and allowed just one base runner during his stint.

Woltersdorf continues the recent tradition of standout freshmen arms for the Mountain Hawks. Last season, Lehigh earned three Rookie of the Week selections, all by freshman pitchers. Lehigh has now won the last two-straight Rookie of the Week awards dating back to May 9, 2017 when Jason Reynolds garnered the weekly honor.

After completing their opening weekend stint in Wilmington, N.C., the Mountain Hawks will return to North Carolina to face N.C. A&T in a three-game set beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday.
