PRINCETON, N.J. — The Lehigh men's swimming and diving team had a successful first day at the Big Al Invitational at Princeton University on Friday, able to take on Duke, Penn State and Northwestern, as well as the Tigers.
Highlighted by a school record broken during the morning session, the success carried over to the evening portion of the event with another record being broken, this time a freshman record.
Junior Walker Wilson broke his own school record of 4:26.72 in the 500 yard freestyle, swimming to a time of 4:25.96 in the preliminary race Friday morning. He beat out Michael Daly from Penn State and Northwestern's Liam Gately in the event.
Freshman Connor Sept broke the freshman record in the 100 yard breaststroke event with a time of 56.56 Friday evening, narrowly missing out on the school record of 56.53 set by Grant Flothmeier in 2006, which is the oldest standing school record in Lehigh's program.
Overall, it was a solid day for the men, despite finishing last out of the five team with a team score of 423.5. The men will be back in the pool on Saturday for Day 2 of the Big Al Invite at Princeton.
The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+ (Subscription Required) at 10 a.m.
