BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's track teams have announced their indoor and outdoor schedules for the 2018-19 season.
"It's always an exciting time when we release our schedule because we get to look into the feature. We've made a few changes this year, one of them being we've moved the John Covert Classic Meet to an outdoor meet to honor him and the building we dedicated to him and his wife last year," said head coach Matt Utesch.
"The indoor Patriot League Championships are going to be at Navy this year, so it's good we're getting experience on that track a couple weeks before. They have a wonderful facility and Annapolis is an amazing city."
The Mountain Hawks will benefit from having Rauch Field House on campus, as the first four meets they compete in will be at Lehigh. December 1 sees the season come to life with the Lehigh Season Opener followed by the Fast Times Before Finals meet from December 7 to December 8. After that the Mountain Hawks will host the Angry Birds Meet on January 12 before hosting their final indoor event of the season with the Lehigh – Lafayette Dual Meet on January 19.
The rest of the indoor season sees Lehigh on the road, starting with a trip to New York to compete in the Dr. Sander Invitational from January 24 to January 25. The Mountain Hawks then turn their attention to the Wesley Brown Invitational hosted by Navy on January 26.
Lehigh will see action in two more events, the Villanova Invitational on February 2 and the Bucknell Tune-Up meet on February 8, before competing in the Patriot League Indoor Championship in Annapolis, Md. From February 15 to February 16.
Lehigh kicks off the outdoor season with the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by Richmond from Friday, March 29 through Saturday, March 30. The outdoor edition of the Lehigh – Lafayette Dual Meet takes place on April 6 in Easton, Pa.
The Mountain Hawks start the first of two stretches where they'll compete in multiple meets, with the first going on from April 11 to April 14. The Mondschin Multi meet goes from April 11 to April 12 at Kutztown University. The Coach P. Invitational then kicks off on April 12 through April 13 at Moravian College while the Bison Outdoor Classic concludes the week as the Brown and White compete in Lewisburg, Pa. from April 13 through April 14.
The second of those busy stretches starts from April 19-20, with the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J., The Greyhound Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa., and the Virginia Challenge down in Charlottesville, Va. take place from April 19 through April 20.
Lehigh will take part in the historic Penn Relays in Philadelphia from April 25 to April 27 along with hosting the Carol & John Covert Classic, where the Mountain Hawks will honor their senior class from Friday, April 26 to Saturday, April 27.
The Patriot League Outdoor Championship will be hosted by Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. from May 4 through May 5. Lehigh will also compete in the West Point Twilight on Thursday, May 9 in preparation the ECAC/IC4A Championship in Princeton, N.J., which goes from May 11 to May 12.
