
Lehigh Swimming and Diving Hosts Rival Lafayette Friday Night

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh swimmers and divers will kick off Rivalry Weekend 2017 by hosting Lafayette Friday night at Jacobs Pool at 6 p.m.
The meet will mark the 89th meeting for the men and the 44th meeting for the women. Lehigh owns a 74-14 advantage on the men's side in the all-time series and a 30-13 advantage in the women's series.
The Lehigh men will look to continue their 25-year reign over the Leopards which began in the 1992-93 season. One the women's side, Lehigh will look for its 10th-straight victory over its rivals from Easton. The Mountain Hawks have swept Lafayette every season starting in 2008-09.
This season, Lehigh is 3-3 on the men's side with a record of 1-1 against Patriot League opponents and a 2-1 record at home. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 132-98 victory over NJIT last Saturday at home. Walker Wilson and Zach Tieke each captured two individual wins on the day and contributed to a relay victory. Croldy Veliz swept both diving events on the day.
The Lehigh women return to action for the first time since defeating league foe Loyola, 174-126, at home on October 28. The Mountain Hawks are 4-1 on the year with a record of 2-0 against Patriot League teams and a 2-0 record at home this season.
The Lafayette men are 1-3 on the season and have faced exclusively Patriot League opponents this season. The Leopards competed in a quad-meet last Saturday at Bucknell with American and Navy. Lafayette defeated American 171-107 for their first win of the season, while falling to Bucknell and Navy.
Lafayette is also 1-3 on the women's side while also facing only Patriot League opponents this season. The Leopards captured their lone win of the season with a 211-188 victory over Loyola in the season opener.
In last season's meetings, the Lehigh men claimed a 170-92 victory by winning 11 of 14 events and set a school record and a Lafayette pool record in the process. The Lehigh women swept all 14 events in a 219-43 victory over Lafayette last season. The Mountain Hawks set one school record and six pool records in the win.
