BOSTON – The Lehigh rowing team wrapped up day one at Head of the Charles on Saturday with the Women's Club Fours and Women's Club Eights each finishing 28th in their respective races. Lehigh also had an entry in the Men's Alumni Eights race, which took place earlier in the afternoon.
Â
Lehigh's alumni boat finished in 44th out of 50 crews with a time of 17:31.786. The Women's Club Fours had a strong effort, finishing 28th out of 53 crews, but just missing the top half which would have guaranteed an entry into next year's Head of the Charles. The Women's Club Eights also came in 28th, out of 40 crews with a time of 18:24.558.
"The team raced hard, but were just up against some tough competition today," said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. "The women's four looked impressive and was able to execute their race plan well. The eight had a tough race where a lot of boats got jammed up under bridges. Laura Parks did a great job steering around the commotion and it just wasn't our day in terms of results. I am excited about the aggressiveness I saw out of both boats today."
Â
On Sunday, the Mountain Hawks will be rowing in the Men's Collegiate Fours at 2:53 p.m. For more information on Head of the Charles, the world's largest two-day rowing event, check out their website, here.
