Mountain Hawks reflect on season at annual banquet

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Lehigh women's basketball team held its annual Charles F. '38 and Marie Zell Basketball Banquet Saturday evening in the Tower Room on Lehigh's Mountaintop Campus. The dinner included remarks from the senior class, an awards ceremony and highlight video as the Mountain Hawks took time to reflect on the past season.

Senior Kerry Kinek earned the team's Outstanding Athlete Award, given to the player who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team. Kinek earned All-Patriot League honors each of her four seasons in the Brown and White, making her just the sixth-ever Patriot League player and second-ever Lehigh player to do so. The Whitehall, Pa. native averaged 11.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in 2015-16 while tallying four 20+ point performances. Kinek graduates as the fifth all-time leading scorer and second all-time leading rebounder in program history. Â

Senior Elizabeth Jordan was awarded the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, which is given to the player who exemplifies the idea of scholar-athlete in the eyes of his or her teammates. Jordan, a Spanish and Chinese double-major, posted a 3.87 GPA in the fall semester and holds a 3.63 cumulative GPA. Â She is a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member who averaged 3.6 points per game as a senior. Â

The Coaches Award, given to the individual who made significant contributions to the well-being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement or special leadership, was awarded to senior Elizabeth Sharlow for the second year in a row. Sharlow, a co-captain of this year's team, averaged 6.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season.

The sixth man award, given to an individual or group of people who have made a major impact on the program, was presented to Anne Anderson, an Associate Professor in Lehigh's Perella Department of Finance. Â Anderson served as the team's academic advisor before, during and after Lehigh's 10-day trip to Europe over the summer.

Lehigh finished the 2015-16 season with an 18-13 record and fell to eventual champion Army in the Patriot League Semifinals.
