BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following stellar efforts against Rutgers and Army West point, Lehigh women's lacrosse junior Lauren Beausoleil was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Week on Monday. Beausoleil's week was highlighted by all-around effort in Sunday's 14-6 win over the Black Knights. She finished the game with three goals, five groundballs, six caused turnovers and a draw control, posting four goals, seven groundballs and seven caused turnovers for the week.
Â
The award marks the first of Beausoleil's career and Lehigh's third weekly award of the season. Junior Allison LaBeau has also been named Patriot League Attacker of the Week twice.
Â
Beausoleil finished Sunday's Army West Point game with her second hat trick of the season and fourth of her career. The five groundballs and six caused turnovers were both career highs. The Ridgewood, N.J. native scored the game's first two goals, at 24:45 and 22:32 of the first half, while also giving the Mountain Hawks a 10-6 advantage with 18:28 left in the second half. She was part of a Lehigh defense which caused 17 of Army's 22 turnovers, forcing the Black Knights to go just 10-of-20 on clearing attempts while not allowing a goal for the game's final 19:56. Beausoleil's six caused turnovers were most by a Lehigh player since Lauren Dykstra had six on March 30, 2009 at Drexel.
Â
Beausoleil added a goal, draw control, caused turnover and two groundballs in Tuesday's win over Rutgers. For the season, she now owns 20 points, a team-high 31 groundballs, 14 caused turnovers and 15 draw controls.
Â
Also recognized on Monday was LaBeau, who tallied 11 points over the two games last week, posting four points (two goals, two assists) against Rutgers and seven points (three goals, four assists) vs. Army West Point. LaBeau leads the team with 56 points on the season and has three games with seven or more points.
Â
Standing 10-2 overall and 4-1 in league play, the Mountain Hawks return to action on Saturday when they travel to Loyola to face the Greyhounds. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
