Lehigh set for three-game series against Manhattan this weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh baseball team will host Manhattan in a 3 p.m. Friday game at Legacy Park before travelling to the Jaspers' home field of Dutchess Stadium Saturday for a 12 p.m. doubleheader. Free video of Friday's single game will be available on the Patriot League Network.
The Mountain Hawks carry a 6-12 overall record into this weekend's series. Lehigh earned a 10-5 win over NYIT Tuesday before dropping an 11-4 decision to Penn Wednesday in a pair of midweek games. Reigning Patriot League Player of the Week junior Jacen Nalesnik leads the team offensively with a .370 batting average, 14 RBI, 18 runs scored and four home runs. Juniors Patrick Donnelly (.342) and Connor Donovan (.317) are also hitting above .300 to pace a Lehigh squad that hits .272 as a team. Seniors Mackey Price and Mike Garzillo have also recorded double-digit RBI with 14 and 11 runs knocked in, respectively.
Freshman Ethan Frohman leads the pitching staff with a 1.80 ERA in 15 innings of work. Sophomores Sam Ashey and Mark Washington have earned two wins apiece, while Frohman and sophomore Peter Moore each have one victory on the mound. Seniors Kevin Long and Kevin Boswick, along with junior Matt Kozemchak, have been regular weekend starters so far this season. Ashey leads the team with 18 strikeouts, while Boswick follows with 15.
Manhattan is 4-13 so far this season and is coming off a 5-1 home win over Hofstra Tuesday. The Jaspers have also picked up victories over Delaware (10-2), NYIT (6-4, 10 innings), and FIU (7-6, 10 innings). Manhattan is hitting .220 as a team and is paced by Fabian Pena and Christian Santisteban. Pena leads the squad with a .313 batting average, 13 RBI and two home runs, while Santisteban is hitting .303 with 11 runs scored.
Tom Cosgrove (0-3, 4.74 ERA) and Joey Rocchietti (1-3, 5.25 ERA) have held down the top two spots in Manhattan's weekend rotation this season, while Joe Jacques (0-1, 5.31 ERA) and Ryan Takacs (0-3, 10.12 ERA) have taken care of the third slot. Shawn Kanwisher has accumulated a 2.70 ERA with two wins in seven appearances out of the Manhattan bullpen. Cosgrove leads the team with 17 strikeouts and 24.2 innings pitched, including a complete-game effort in a 2-0 loss to Seton Hall last weekend.
Lehigh and Manhattan will be meeting for the first time since 2006. The Jaspers hold a 15-8 all-time advantage over the Mountain Hawks.
Following this weekend's series, Lehigh will host Delaware and Saint Peter's in Tuesday and Wednesday games at Legacy Park before opening Patriot League play at Bucknell next weekend.
