Mountain Hawks pick up pair of 7-0 sweeps over Muhlenberg and Kutztown

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team cruised to 7-0 victories over visiting Muhlenberg and Kutztown Saturday afternoon inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks won every singles and doubles match of the day to run their season record to an impressive 6-1.
 
The duo of sophomores Jack Petersen and Dylan Karchere-Sun started doubles play against Muhlenberg with a 6-1 victory at the third flight before seniors Jeremy Kochman and Ricardo Prince locked up the doubles point with a 6-2 win at the top flight. Juniors Ethan Bogard and Colin Nardella completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win at the second flight.
 
Bogard and Nardella both earned straight-set 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, to open singles action against the Mules and give the Mountain Hawks a 3-0 advantage. Kochman then clinched the match at the top flight with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Muhlenberg's David Woods.
 
Petersen continued Lehigh's dominance as he earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Michey Schindler at No. 2 singles before Prince defeated Nicholas Oliveti 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. Karchere-Sun secured the 7-0 sweep of the Mules with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
 
Bogard and Prince teamed up at No. 3 doubles against Kutztown and cruised to a 6-0 win before freshmen George Cooper and Bryant Born picked up a 6-1 win at the top flight to secure the doubles point. Freshman Sam Bencheghib and junior Jason Sutker earned a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles to complete the sweep.
 
Karchere-Sun kicked off singles action against the Golden Bears with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the fourth flight before Nardella claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles. Born clinched the match at the top flight with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Kutztown's Oliver Perez.
 
Cooper battled for a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles before Sutker earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at the fifth flight. Bencheghib then locked up Lehigh's second sweep of the day by cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
 
The Mountain Hawks return to action next weekend against Saint Joseph's and Rider inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
