Martins named Patriot League Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women's basketball junior Lexi Martins has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Martins helped lead Lehigh to a 2-0 week in Patriot League action by averaging 22.5 points, 15 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in the two contests combined. The Irvington, N.Y. native scored a career-high 27 points behind a 9-for-17 showing from the field and 8-for-10 mark from the free throw line Wednesday against Lafayette. She also pulled down 15 rebounds against the Leopards for her 15th double-double of the season. The forward followed that performance with 18 points, 15 rebounds and a team-best six assists in a 72-48 win over Boston University Saturday.
Martins currently ranks second in all of Division I in rebounds per game with a season-long average of 14.4 boards per contest. Her 16 double-doubles ranks third most in the nation.
The Mountain Hawks, winners of their last four games, currently sit in third place in the Patriot League standings with a 6-3 league record. Martins and the Mountain Hawks return to action Wednesday at Loyola before heading to American Saturday. Both games can be viewed for free on the Patriot League Network.
