McBride earns spot in Triple-A All-Star Game

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Former Lehigh baseball standout and current member of the Albuquerque Isotopes, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, Matt McBride has been named to the 2015 Triple-A All-Star Game, as announced on Wednesday afternoon. Joining McBride in professional baseball, recent San Diego Padres draftee Justin Pacchioli has also been making his mark for the Tri-City Dust Devils, the short season Single-A affiliate of the Padres.
McBride has put together an impressive first half of the season for the Isotopes, hitting .346 with 11 home runs, 42 RBI, 26 doubles and 54 runs scored. His .587 slugging percentage leads the Pacific Coast League, while his .346 batting average ranks second. The Bethlehem, Pa. native is in the midst of a 15-game hitting streak, during which he is batting .424 with three homers, 15 RBI, nine doubles and 17 runs scored. The outfielder will represent the PCL and Isotopes in the July 15th All Star game in Omaha, Neb.
As a Mountain Hawk, McBride led Lehigh to its first-ever Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2006. He won the league's triple crown (.417 batting average, 12 home runs, 61 RBI) and set a then-league record with 88 hits, which now ranks third all-time. After his breakout junior campaign, he was named an ABCA All-American, Louisville Slugger All-American and College Baseball Foundation All-American. McBride was drafted in the second round of the 2006 MLB draft by the Cleveland Indians and has played 52 games in the big leagues for the Colorado Rockies.
Pacchioli, who was drafted by the Padres in the tenth round of the MLB draft on June 9, has taken his talents to the Tri-City Dust Devils located in Pasco, Wash. In nine games with the Dust Devils, Pacchioli is batting .250 (8-for-32) with ten runs scored, three stolen bases, six walks, two RBI and a .390 on-base percentage.
Pacchioli finished his Lehigh career as a three-time All Patriot League selection, including a two-time first team member and 2015 unanimous first team selection. The centerfielder hit .342 throughout his senior season with a .485 on-base percentage that ranks 16th in Division I. Pacchioli set new Lehigh career (69) and single-season (31) stolen base records during his 2015 campaign. He recorded 185 hits throughout his career in addition to scoring 112 runs and tallying a .449 career on-base percentage. He helped lead Lehigh to its second-ever Patriot League title in 2015.
