Troyan announces women’s basketball Class of 2019

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women's basketball head coach Sue Troyan has announced the addition of three student-athletes that will comprise the program's Class of 2019. The three new Mountain Hawks will come to Lehigh from all different regions of the country, with Pennsylvania, Illinois and California being represented in the Class of 2019.
"We're excited about our incoming class of freshmen and feel as though they will add depth and competitiveness to a very strong nucleus of returning players," said Troyan, who enters her 21st season at the helm in 2015-16. "All three have played at a high level of high school and AAU basketball, and possess a strong understanding of what it takes to be successful. Not only have they been student-athletes who have excelled on the basketball court, but more importantly they are quality young women who have excelled in the classroom and who will be a tremendous fit with our Lehigh community and basketball family."
Meagan Eripret, a local product from Allentown, Pa. is the all-time leading scorer at Salisbury High School with 1,788 career points. The 6-3 center was named the team MVP for all four years of her career and was a three-time first team All-Colonial League selection and two-time first team All-Area member. Eripret was also a two-time All-State honoree, including collecting first team honors as a junior. In addition to her strong high school career, Eripret also played four years with the Lehigh Valley Fever and one year with the Philadelphia Comets club teams. Impressive in the classroom as well, Eripret graduated 11th in her class, was a member of the National Honor Society and earned the President's Award for Educational Excellence.
"We are excited to have Meg join us following her outstanding career on the court here in the Lehigh Valley," said Troyan. "Meagan has been a part of our Lehigh family for quite some time. She started attending our summer basketball camps at the age of eight and her mother, Bridget, served six seasons as an assistant coach on our staff. Meg has the ability to dominate the game on the interior at both ends of the floor. She possesses a tremendous touch around the basket while also having the ability to step out to the perimeter and score."
Bryce Menendez, a 6-2 forward, will come to Lehigh from Naperville, Ill. where she helped lead her Neuqua Valley High School team to a conference championship through all four years of her career in addition to a sectional championship in 2014. She earned Conference Player of the Year and All-Area honors for her efforts and earned second team All-State honors during her senior season. Menendez also helped lead her Illinois Elite AAU team to a second place finish at Nationals in 2014 and back-to-back Illinois AAU State Championships in 2014 and 2015. Off the court, Menendez earned high honor roll status during all four years of her high school career and was named an Indian Prairie Scholar.
"Bryce joins our Lehigh basketball family following an outstanding high school career in the Chicago area," said Troyan. "Bryce comes from highly successful high school and AAU programs and was a key member of Coach Tom Hohenadel's Illinois Elite program. Bryce is an extremely versatile player with the size and ability to play as both a wing and forward. We see Bryce as a great fit in our offensive and defensive schemes."
Hailey Pascoe, a 5-9 guard, is the all-time leading scorer at Clayton Valley Charter High School in Concord, Calif. with 1,840 points and also holds the school's single-season scoring (707) and single-season free throws (105) records. Pascoe was a four-year varsity starter and three-year captain who averaged 16.1 points per game throughout her career, including an impressive mark of 22.1 points per game during her senior season. A four-time All-League selection and two-time All-League MVP, Pascoe also earned her high school's Female Athlete of the Year award following her senior season. Pascoe is the third member of Kelly Sopak's Cal Stars AAU program to join the Mountain Hawks in recent years (Kelly Peterson '13, Quinci Mann '18). As a sophomore, Pascoe was a key contributor to the Cal Stars team that finished second overall at Nike Nationals and completed her AAU career with another strong showing at Nationals last summer. Strong in the classroom as well, Pascoe graduated with a 4.2 GPA.
"Hailey has successfully competed at the highest level of AAU basketball which we believe will be a strong foundation for her college career at Lehigh," said Troyan. "Hailey will play the wing positions and brings a dynamic set of offensive skills to our program. She is a physically strong player who has an ability to score in a variety of ways."
The three incoming freshmen will join 12 returnees for the 2015-16 campaign. Lehigh looks to build upon the momentum gained from a 2014-15 season that saw the Mountain Hawks make a Patriot League Championship appearance and tally a 19-12 record.
