Lehigh heads to Bucknell and Moravian this weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams will split their squads between Moravian's Coach Pollard Invitational Friday and Saturday and Bucknell's Bison Outdoor Classic Saturday and Sunday. The Mountain Hawks will send throwers and jumpers to Moravian, while track athletes will split between the two meets.
The Mountain Hawks most recently competed in the annual Lehigh-Lafayette outdoor dual meet Monday. The Lehigh men won 12 of 19 events to earn a 115-88 victory over the Leopards and complete the season sweep after winning the indoor dual meet 120-61. Senior Benjamin Beauchamp earned a pair of event victories with IC4A-qualifying marks in both the discus (50.34 meters) and hammer throws (55.68 meters).
The women weren't able to complete the season sweep of the Leopards as Lafayette claimed a 106-97 victory in the outdoor dual Monday. Sophomore Courtney Avery set another school record in the high jump with a leap of 1.77 meters to claim first place. Senior Carly Deskins earned a pair of event victories in the shot put (11.98 meters) and discus throw (36.58 meters, while senior Victoria Mullane claimed both the 800 meter run and 1,500 meter run titles with respective times of 2:16.03 and 4:44.59.
An IC4A-qualifying high jump from current senior Adeolu Adesida highlighted last year's Coach Pollard Invite for the Lehigh men, while Evan Ward earned the 5,000 meter run title.
The Lehigh women impressed at last year's Coach Pollard Invite as well, as the Mountain Hawks took the top four spots in the 1,500 meter run, led by current sophomore Amanda Ruschel. Deskins earned the javelin title.
Following this weekend's action, Lehigh continues its preparations for the Patriot League Championships next weekend at Moravian's Greyhound Invitational and Princeton's Larry Ellis Invite.
