Mountain Hawks fall 5-2 to Navy in Patriot League opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh won the doubles point and the top singles flight but visiting Navy won five singles matches to down the Mountain Hawks 5-2 in the Patriot League opener for both teams Sunday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. Freshman Christina Auyeung was a winner at No. 1 singles and doubles but it wasn't enough as Lehigh falls to 6-6 while Navy improves to 15-6.
The doubles point came down to a tiebreak at the No. 3 flight. Auyeung teamed with Campisi to beat Summer Ralston and Claudia Mackenzie 8-6 at the top flight while Navy captured the match at No. 2 doubles. In the decisive match, freshmen Kirstin Godau and Abby Duddy won a tiebreak 7-4 to defeat Mikaela Carlson and Audrey Channell 8-7.
Auyeung posted Lehigh's second point with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Sam Droop at the top flight but Navy won the next four flights in straight sets to clinch the match. Ralston won a ten point tiebreak over senior Abby Farrell at No. 6 singles to close out the match.
Lehigh will be off next weekend but will first host Moravian Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
