3/26/2015 6:35:00 PM | Women's Lacrosse

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Sophomore Allison LaBeau scored a career-high six goals as the Lehigh women's lacrosse team evened its season record with a 16-8 win over Mount St. Mary's Thursday afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium. The Mountain Hawks scored the first five goals of the game and outscored the Mountaineers 10-4 in the second half to improve to 5-5 on the season.

LaBeau's six goals came on a game-high 12 shots. She was a perfect 2-for-2 on free position shots. Senior Carli Sukonik added three goals, while sophomore Lauren Beausoleil had a strong all-around game with two goals, an assist, three ground balls and five draw controls.

As a team, Lehigh held a commanding 32-17 edge in shots and a 19-7 advantage in draw controls.

"We got a terrific game from Alli LaBeau today and very good production offensively," Lehigh head coach Jill Redfern said. "Draw controls were key to this game and our entire team contributed to that effort. Our defense also created some great extra opportunities."

Lehigh scored the first five goals with LaBeau tallying two and sophomore Krista Dampman and junior Kendall Garden supplying the other three to put the Mountain Hawks up 5-0 just over 17 minutes in.

Mount St. Mary's (1-7) responded with four of the next five goals to cut Lehigh's lead to 6-4 at the half.

Freshman Kayleen Kelly opened the second half scoring with LaBeau and Sukonik following with goals to put Lehigh up 9-4 just over three minutes into the second stanza.

The Mountaineers would get within no closer than four goals. Erin Seipp's free position goal brought the Mount within 10-6 but Lehigh responded with a 6-1 run, highlighted by three more tallies from LaBeau before Marley Heller scored in the final minute.

In all, seven different players scored goals for the Mountain Hawks.

Defensively, senior Lauren Willcox led the way with two caused turnovers, while Kelly Scott and Garden each contributed three draw controls. Sophomore Taylor Tvedt finished with four saves in 49:35 of action, before giving way to Emily Nussbaum who allowed one goal and made two stops.

Nicole Lantuh led Mount St. Mary's with three goals and an assist.

The Mountain Hawks continue their four game road trip with a visit to Bryant on Saturday. The opening draw is set for 2 p.m. from Smithfield, R.I.
