Raleigh Relays Live Results | Winthrop Invite Live Results | Lafayette Seven-Way Schedule
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams will travel to three meets this weekend when the Mountain Hawks split their squads between the Winthrop Invitational, Raleigh Relays and Lafayette Seven-Way. The Winthrop Invitational begins Thursday and continues through Saturday, while the Raleigh Relays will take place Friday and Saturday and the Lafayette Seven-Way is set for Sunday.
The meets will serve as the second week of action of the outdoor season as the Mountain Hawks kicked off outdoor activity last Saturday at the Philly Classic. Sophomore Courtney Avery earned Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week honors for her 1.65 meter leap in the high jump that earned first-place at the Philly Classic. Other impressive performances for the women included sophomore Natalie Jacobs in the 100 meter hurdles and senior Shannon Nelson in the 1,500 meter run. The Mountain Hawk men took the top three places in the triple jump, while freshman Michael Camera leading the way in first. Senior Benjamin Beauchamp was Lehigh's highest finisher in the hammer throw, discus and shot put, while junior Robert Hugin, sophomore Daniel Boardman and freshman John Tolbert all earned third place in their respective events.
Both teams saw great success at last year's Winthrop Invite, Raleigh Relays and Lafayette Eight-Way. Former standout Tyler Mueller set a new Lehigh record in the 10,000 meter run at the Raleigh Relays after finishing in fourth place, while current senior Ryan Mahalsky followed in 13th place with a new personal-record time. Christopher Watson led the way for the Mountain hawks at the Winthrop Invite after winning the 800 meter race and Stephen Keith earned second place in the 3,000 meter run at the Lafayette Eight-Way.
Former standout and current assistant coach Brooke Astor set a new school record in the heptathlon at last year's Winthrop Invite. Avery also earned first place in the high jump at Winthrop. Current junior Elizabeth Weiler set a new personal record with an ECAC-qualifying time in the 5,000 meter race at the Raleigh Relays, while classmate Carlie Skellington captured first place in the 3,000 meter steeple chase to lead Lehigh at the Lafayette Eight-Way.
Following this weekend's action, the Mountain Hawks will head to Lafayette next Saturday for the annual outdoor dual meet.
