Lehigh rowing ends the day on a strong note in first spring regatta

PHILADELPHIA - The Lehigh rowing team opened its spring schedule on Saturday with mixed results against Temple and Delaware on the Schuylkill River. The women faced Temple in the morning before both the men and women faced Delaware later in the day.

"I thought earlier in the day, the women's team struggled in terms of preparation, but we were able to regroup for the afternoon and put out pretty solid performances in all the boats, for the men and women," said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley.

After a tough morning race against Temple, the Mountain Hawks put forth a formidable effort against the Blue Hens. Included was a win by the Women's Varsity Eight with a time of 6:57.47 by almost 10 full seconds.

"We have a lot of work that we still need to do in terms of getting lineups set and what we're going to be doing in terms of race strategy and race preparation," said Conley. "Those are things we can be in control of and we'll continue to work on."

The Mountain Hawks return to action next weekend when they travel to the Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey for the Murphy Cup.
