Poillon and Taylor named to Tewaaraton Award Watch List

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's lacrosse seniors Matt Poillon and Dan Taylor have been named to the watch list for the prestigious Tewaaraton Award, as announced on Thursday evening. Presented to the top male and top female college lacrosse players in the United States, the list includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA Lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the 2015 Tewaaraton Award.

This marks the third straight season Poillon has been named to the watch list. The Mount Sinai, N.Y. native was an All-American from day one at Lehigh, posting a 6.75 goals against average and .597 save percentage as a freshman, leading the Mountain Hawks to their first-ever Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Poillon has sustained his success, earning honorable mention All-America all three seasons so far, along with All-Patriot League laurels and two Patriot League Goalie of the Year awards. After three games this season, he owns a 39-12 career record and stands 11th in NCAA history with his 7.42 goals against average.

Taylor has emerged as an elite attackman after jumping onto the national scene with 76 points last year, good for seventh in the nation. He was named a first team All-American and honorable mention All-American. Taylor has continued his success this season, among the nation's leaders with his 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) through three games. Taylor set a career high with 10 points at Furman two weekends ago to earn Patriot League and National Offensive Player of the Week laurels. He followed that up with a career-high tying five assists in Saturday's Patriot League opener vs. Boston University.

Poillon was recently named the 14th best player in Division I lacrosse by Inside Lacrosse's Quint Kessenich while Taylor was ranked 27th. Inside Lacrosse has listed Taylor as a legitimate candidate for the Tewaaraton Award

The 20th ranked Mountain Hawks now prepare for a big road matchup as they travel to #14/15 Loyola in a rematch of the 2014 Patriot League Championship Game. Opening faceoff is set for 2 p.m.
