WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Lehigh women's tennis team enjoyed a winning singles weekend at the three-day West Point Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday on Army's Malek Tennis Courts. Ten Mountain Hawks combined to post a 15-14 record in singles play with four players reaching quarterfinals in their respective flights and freshman Kirstin Godau reaching the semifinals at the fourth flight.

The Lehigh freshmen continued to impress. In addition to Godau's success, Christina Auyeung reached the quarters in the top flight, Abby Duddy made a run through the consolations to reach the consolation final at No. 4 and Briana Maravich won a pair of consolation matches at the No. 2 flight. Senior Abby Farrell reached the quarterfinals at the No. 2 flight, while sophomore Jamie Campisi reached the quarters at third singles.

At the top flight, Auyeung won her first two matches in straight sets against opponents from St. Bonaventure and Stony Brook before falling 6-3 6-3 to Emma Alderman of UConn in the quarterfinals. Sophomore Cassidy Cruz also played in the first singles bracket, but went 0-2 after losing her first round match in a ten point tiebreak.

Farrell and Maravich both posted two victories at second singles, with Farrell winning a ten point tiebreak to defeat Shea Brodsky of Binghamton in her first match before downing Briana Leonard of Bryant in straight sets. Farrell lost her quarterfinal to Maxie Weinberg of UConn. Maravich dropper her first match in straight sets to Seton Hall's Kate Kim but won 8-5 over Isabella Wagener of LIU in the consolations. After a walkover win, Maravich was eliminated 8-6 by Sydney Young of Quinnipiac.

Campisi reached the quarters at third singles with a ten point tiebreak win over Dominique Mortier of St. Bonaventure in the round of 16. She had a shot at the semifinals after winning the first set against top seed Carol Benito of Massachusetts but Benito rallied to win the second set 6-2 and then won the tiebreak 10-2. Sophomore Jessica Graham also competed at third singles.

Godau posted the furthest advancement in the championship bracket among all Mountain Hawks, posting straight set victories over opponents from St. Bonaventure, Binghamton and Army before running into top seed Nicole Mitchell of Syracuse, who prevailed 6-2, 6-1.

Duddy rebounded from a first round loss to win three matches in the consolations before running into Chag Bean Kang of Albany, who prevailed 8-4.

Junior Ali Kaminetsky won her opening round match against Molly Prins of Army in a third set ten point tiebreak before falling in the round of 16. Sophomore Nina Larraza lost her first round match and then withdrew.

Lehigh was not as successful in the two doubles flights as all five Mountain Hawk tandems lost their first matches. The doubles pairings for Lehigh in the first flight were Cruz and Farrell, Auyeung and Campisi, and Graham and Maravich. Duddy teamed with Godau and Kaminetsky with Larraza at the second flight.

The Mountain Hawks will send players to the ITA Regionals in New Haven, Conn. Oct. 17-19 before closing out their fall season when they host the Patriot League Kickoff on the Goodman Campus Oct. 24-26.
