Lehigh women's cross country predicted second in Patriot League

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's cross country team has been predicted to finish second in this year's Patriot League preseason poll announced Wednesday. Last year, the Mountain Hawks finished second at the Patriot League Championships for their best finish since 2000.
Boston University was picked to take the Patriot League title with 162 votes and 18 first place votes. Lehigh tallied 142 points with two first place votes and sits in second place. Boston University won last year's Patriot League Championship with 47 points, while Lehigh trailed close behind with 57.
The Patriot League Preseason Poll is voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
Following Lehigh, the rest of the poll in order features Navy (125), Bucknell (123), Army (95), American (77), Holy Cross (70), Lafayette (52), Loyola (31), and Colgate (23).
The Mountain Hawks return three of their four 2013 All-Patriot League selections including junior Jennifer Markham, a first team selection, along with junior Elizabeth Weiler, and senior Ingrid Simon, both second team selections. Lehigh will also have leadership from three other experienced seniors and a fifth year graduate student on its roster.
The Mountain Hawks will look to build on last year's success when they host this year's Patriot League Championship on the Goodman Campus cross country course on Nov. 1. The team has been back on campus for preseason camp since Friday, training for their first meet in nine days at home when the Mountain Hawks host the Lehigh Invitational.
