Five Mountain Hawks named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Five student-athletes from the Lehigh women's lacrosse team have been named to the 2014 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, as announced on Tuesday. Rising seniors Brianna Buysse, Kelly Scott, Emily Solenberger, Carli Sukonik and Lauren Willcox were all recognized for owning a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Only juniors and seniors are eligible for the honor roll. Lehigh tied for the second-most honorees in the Patriot League. Bucknell had nine followed by Lehigh and American with five. Loyola and Lafayette placed two on the list while Boston University had one. In total, 238 student-athletes from 80 different institutions were named to the honor roll.
The Mountain Hawks earned an IWLCA team award last week for earning a 2013-14 team GPA over 3.0.
These honors are just the latest of several academic honors for the team. Twenty Mountain Hawks were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll while Sukonik and Willcox were both named to the prestigious Academic All-Patriot League Team. Both Sukonik and Willcox were All-League honorees for their success on the field as well.
Lehigh finished 4-4 in 2014 and advanced to its first Patriot League Tournament since 2011. The team also defeated Boston University 12-11 in double overtime to hand the Terriers their first-ever Patriot League loss. Five Mountain Hawks earned All-Patriot League recognition with four returning in 2015.
