Mountain Hawks picked seventh in Patriot League preseason poll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's soccer team has been predicted to finish seventh as announced as the Patriot League announced the results of the preseason poll and the preseason All-League Team on Monday. The Mountain Hawks look to return to the Patriot League Tournament for the third time in the last five years.

Last year's league champion Boston University was predicted first with 159 points (15 first-place votes) followed by Navy with 148 points, Colgate (131), Army (101), American (98), Bucknell (82), Lehigh (55), Loyola (46), Holy Cross (43) and Lafayette (37).

The Mountain Hawks finished seventh last season with a 3-6-0 Patriot League mark, beating Loyola, Army and Holy Cross while dropping four league games by a single goal and a fifth by two goals.

Lehigh returns six of its top seven scorers from a season ago, led by senior Danielle Salans who had nine points in 2014 behind four goals and one assist. The goalkeeping duo of senior Ashley Blanks and junior Ani Nahapetian played all but 90 minutes a season ago as Blanks had a 1.01 GAA and 86.6 save percentage while Nahapetian recorded a 1.45 GAA and 74.4 save percentage.

The Mountain Hawks open their season in just six days when they host Binghamton at 12:30 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Live video through the Patriot League Network, along with live stats, will be available.
