BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh baseball team will wrap up a nine-game road stint with a midweek matchup at Temple Wednesday as part of the Liberty Bell Classic. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Skip Wilson Field on Temple's Ambler Campus. A free audio broadcast will be available via Lehighsports.com.

The Mountain Hawks (12-14, 3-4 PL) are coming off a 1-3 weekend at Bucknell and will look to build upon the momentum gained by a 4-2 win in the series finale on Sunday.  Strong pitching from sophomore Kevin Long and senior Nick Cassell, coupled with a 5-for-7 showing at the plate from junior Connor Faust, helped the Mountain Hawks deal the Bison their first league loss of the season in Sunday's nightcap. The Mountain Hawks suffered a 6-5 loss to La Salle in the first round of the Liberty Bell Classic last Tuesday. Lehigh led 5-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth, but the Explorers rallied to claim the win.

Lehigh is hitting a league-leading .280, led by junior Justin Pacchioli's .333 mark. Pacchioli has reached base in 11 straight games and rides a five-game hitting streak into Wednesday's contest. The junior went 9-for-18 at the plate in last week's five games. Classmate John Elson has scored a team-best 18 runs, while sophomore Mike Garzillo has a team-high 19 RBI. Elson also leads the team in stolen bases with seven. The Mountain Hawks hold a 5.08 team ERA and expect plenty of pitchers to see action in Wednesday's contest.

Temple (9-15, 4-5 AAC) is coming off a 2-1 conference series win over the University of Cincinnati over the weekend that snapped a four-game losing streak. The Owls dropped a 12-4 decision to Delaware in the first round of the Liberty Bell Classic last Tuesday.

Temple is hitting .249 as a team led and Bobby Heitzman (.308) is the only Owl hitting above .300. Derek Peterson has scored a team-high 20 runs, while Robert Amaro has knocked in a team-best 24 RBI. Jimmy Kerrigan leads the squad with six stolen bases in his seven attempts. Temple used five pitchers in last Tuesday's midweek matchup against La Salle and is expected to throw multiple Owls again on Wednesday. The Owls hold a team ERA of 5.63 compared to their opponents' 3.86.

Lehigh and Temple were scheduled to meet on March 19, but rain cut the contest short in the second inning as the Mountain Hawks held a 5-2 lead. The Owls won both contests the teams played a season ago.

Following Wednesday's game, the Mountain Hawks return home to host Holy Cross in a pair of doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. on both days and a free audio broadcast will be available on Lehighsports.com.
