BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Riding three straight wins, the #19/20 Lehigh men's lacrosse team heads to #15/17 Princeton Tuesday for a big nonleague tilt. Opening faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and will air live nation-wide on ESPNU/WatchESPN. The Mountain Hawks' offense has come alive as of late, scoring 44 goals over the last three games (14.67 per game), including 11 on Saturday against a Colgate defense that entered fourth nationally allowing just 7.40 goals per game.

Lehigh used a 6-1 run from the end of the second quarter through the beginning of the fourth to turn a 4-4 tie into a 10-5 lead. Junior Dan Taylor led the way with four points on Saturday behind two goals and two assists. He began the run with the last goal of the second quarter and first of the third to take a 6-4 lead. He added both of his assists during that run, including one to junior long-pole Dylan O'Shaughnessy who rocketed a shot past Colgate goalie Brandon Burke to make it 10-5 at 14:33 of the fourth quarter. Junior Kurtis Kaunas also scored twice in a 2:09 span to make it 8-5 then 9-5. Sophomore Ray Mastroianni scored Lehigh's other goal in that run.

In total, 11 different Mountain Hawks had a point. Freshman Jason Kozel scored his first-career goal in transition during the second quarter. Sophomore Tripp Telesco was the story defensively, shutting down Colgate's leading scorer and All-Patriot League attackman Ryan Walsh. Not only did Walsh fail to post a point, but he was also held to only three shots by Telesco. Telesco finished with four groundballs and three caused turnovers to up his season totals to 35 and 28, respectively. The starting close defense combined for nine groundballs and five caused turnovers. O'Shaughnessy and junior Sam Lawrence each caused two turnovers apiece.

Saturday's victory made Lehigh's senior class the winningest class in program history. That class of 13 was recognized prior to the game, before their final regular season home game. The Mountain Hawks are currently in third place in the Patriot League standings. If they finish third (or fourth), they would host a first round game in the Patriot League Tournament. With a win at Lafayette on Apr. 18 and two Army losses, Lehigh still could reach second place and a bye into the semifinals.

Princeton is Lehigh's second straight nationally-ranked foe and fifth this season. One of the most storied programs in the sport of lacrosse, Princeton has advanced to 20 NCAA Tournaments and won six NCAA National Championships (12 National Championships overall). The Mountain Hawks are 2-2 against ranked squads this season, beating Villanova on Feb. 16 (ranked #20 at the time) and Colgate on Saturday (ranked #16/19). With a win, Lehigh would reach double-figure victories for a third straight season after going 18 years between 10+ win seasons (previously 1994).

Princeton has been up and down this season, impressing offensively while struggling on the defensive end. The Tigers averages 12.78 goals per game while giving up 11.33 per contest. Princeton shoots 33.6 percent, but opponents shoot 32.2 percent. Reigning Tewaaraton Award Finalist Tom Schrieber leads the offense with 44 points (25 goals, 19 assists) in nine games. Schrieber played high school lacrosse at St. Anthony's with former Lehigh standout Dante Fantoni. Schrieber shoots a blistering 39.7 percent, scoring his 25 goals on 63 shots. Mike MacDonald is second in points with 32 goals (16 goals, 16 assists) followed by Jake Froccaro with 30 (22 goals, eight assists) and Ryan Ambler with 28 (16 goals, 12 assists). Three different Tigers have started a game between the pipes, led by Matt O'Connor who has played 366:35 and owns a 10.97 GAA and 46.4 save percentage. Derick Raabe leads the defense with 32 groundballs and 10 caused turnovers while Justin Murphy has won 55.7 percent of his faceoffs (68-of-122).

Lehigh and Princeton haven't met since 1940, a 7-6 Princeton victory. The Tigers lead the all-time series, 13-1-1. Lehigh's only victory came in 1890 by a 3-1 final.

Following Tuesday's game, the Mountain Hawks return to action Saturday when they face Georgetown in the Relentless Cup at Ridley High School in Folsom, Pa. The Relentless Cup is a special fundraising lacrosse event uniting communities in support of the HEADstrong Foundation by combining interstate youth games, high school games and will be highlighted by Lehigh taking on Georgetown under the lights at 7 p.m. The Relentless Cup was introduced in 2012 as a new spring fundraising event to support the HEADstrong Foundation's fight against blood cancers.
