HELLERTOWN, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team opened up play at the Lafayette Invitational with an opening round 308 Sunday at Silver Creek Country Club. The Mountain Hawks are 24 over par and sit in seventh place but are just eight strokes off the pace
Sophomore Harley Abrams led the Mountain Hawks on Sunday shooting three over par 74 to sit in a tie for third place. One stroke behind Abrams is junior Carlos Kim who is tied for tenth after a 75. Junior Zach Allinson opened with a 78 and is tied for 35th while sophomore Johnny Heydt shot 81 and is tied for 67th place.
Lehigh's fifth scoring player, senior Alex DiClemente, is tied for 87th place after shooting 84.
The Mountain Hawks also had two players compete as individuals with freshman Brendan Worthy shooting 77 to tie for 29th place and sophomore Dave Olexson shooting 85 to tie for 89th place.
Hofstra's David Mecca shot one over par 72 to take the 18-hole lead over three players. Abrams is one of five players two shots off the pace.
Longwood holds the team lead after a round of 16 over par 300. Hofstra is second three shots back, followed by Rider in in third, four shots off the pace.
The Lafayette Invitational concludes Monday with the final 18 holes beginning at 9:30 a.m. from Silver Creek Country Club.
