BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In a match that came down to a third set at No. 5 singles, the Lehigh women's tennis team was edged by Delaware 4-3 in a five-hour marathon Wednesday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks were a point away from their first win over the Blue Hens since 2005, but Delaware's Kim Milla rallied from a set down to defeat freshman Jamie Campisi.

Lehigh won the doubles point, taking two of the three matches but Delaware won four singles matches to improve to 5-5, while the Mountain Hawks fall to 4-7.

Doubles play began with Lehigh's top team of senior Jenai Bilimoria and junior Abby Farrell winning 8-2 over Carmen Lai and Olivia Heim. The Blue Hens posted a win at No. 2 doubles, but Lehigh's No. 3 team of senior Taylor Hampshire and freshman Cassidy Cruz clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 win over Milla and Abby Martinez.

Delaware answered early in singles play, taking straight set wins at the No. 4 flight, where Heim beat freshman Jessica Graham, and the No. 2 flight where Lai downed Farrell 6-1, 6-2. Cruz posted a 6-1, 6-4 win over Nataliya Naumova at No. 3 singles to tie the team score at 2-2.

The Blue Hens pulled ahead after Danea Jonjic' rallied from a set down to knock off Bilimoria at the top flight, but sophomore Ali Kaminetsky's 6-1, 6-3 win over Martinez at the No. 3 flight tied the match at 3-3.

In the decisive match at No. 5 singles, Campisi won the first set 7-5, but Milla took the second 6-3. The Blue Hen junior from Mexico won the decisive third set 7-5 to snap Lehigh's two match winning streak.

Next up for the Mountain Hawks is a home date with Army Friday in Lehigh's Patriot League opener. First serves are set for 2 p.m. from the Lewis Tennis Center as the Mountain Hawks will attempt to knock off the ten time defending league champions.
