
Mountain Hawks welcome Towson, Mount St. Mary's for weekend matches

The Lehigh women's tennis team looks to get back on the winning track as the Mountain Hawks host a pair of matches this weekend inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks are 1-3 on the season but have lost their last two matches by 7-0 scores, falling to Rutgers on February 4 and Fairleigh Dickinson on February 8.

Junior Abby Farrell and freshman Cassidy Cruz lead the Mountain Hawks with two singles wins apiece with Farrell manning the No. 2 spot and Cruz playing at No. 3 singles. Cruz and senior Jenai Bilimoria own Lehigh's lone doubles win in the season-opener against Drexel.

Towson is 1-0 on the spring season with a 5-2 win over George Mason back on February 8. The Tigers will meet Lehigh Saturday at 11 a.m. Towson also defeated Lehigh's Sunday opponent, Mount St. Mary's 7-0 during the fall season. The Tigers have defeated Lehigh in each of the last four seasons, with the Mountain Hawks' last win coming in 2009 by a 5-2 score. Last year, Towson prevailed 6-1 with Ali Kaminetsky earning Lehigh's lone point.

Mount St. Mary's will open its spring season against the Mountain Hawks Sunday at 10 a.m. The Mountaineers went 3-1 in fall play with wins over Shepherd, La Salle, and Rider. Lehigh has won the last two meetings against the Mount, including a 6-1 triumph last year.

Saturday's Lehigh-Towson match begins at 11 a.m. from the Lewis Tennis Center, while Sunday's Lehigh-Mount St. Mary's tilt will begin at 10 a.m.
