BETHLEHEM, Pa. –After opening its season with a home loss against Drexel two weeks ago, the Lehigh women's tennis team will be back in action this Sunday at 2 p.m. with a match against Saint Francis (Pa.) at the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks will then continue their season-opening 11 match homestand against Rutgers on Tuesday.
Lehigh fell to Drexel 5-2 in its season opener back on January 19. Senior Jenai Bilimoria and freshman Cassidy Cruz posted a win at No. 1 doubles but the visiting Dragons claimed the doubles point. Cruz and junior Abby Farrell accounted for Lehigh's two points with wins at No. 3 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
The Mountain Hawks are looking to bounce back from the season-opening loss beginning with a match against Saint Francis, which comes in at 2-1 with wins over George Mason and St. Bonaventure following a season-opening loss to Navy. The Red Flash will visit Bucknell on Saturday before coming to Bethlehem on Sunday. Last year Lehigh defeated Saint Francis 5-2 on Super Bowl Sunday to claim its first win of the season.
Lehigh will then host Rutgers on Tuesday. The match will serve as Rutgers' season-opener. The Scarlet Knights went 14-9 last season.
Action begins Sunday when Lehigh meets Saint Francis (Pa.) at 2 p.m. inside the Lewis Tennis Center. Tuesday's Lehigh-Rutgers match is set for a 3 p.m. start.
