Elliott named preseason All-League, Lehigh predicted sixth

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh sophomore defender Paige Elliott has been named a preseason All-Patriot League performer while the women's soccer team was predicted sixth, as announced on Monday. Elliott was a First Team All-League honoree as a freshman, posting two goals and two assists while spearheading a Lehigh defense that excelled down the stretch last season.

The Mountain Hawks were picked sixth in the preseason poll as they look to make the Patriot League Tournament for the third time in the last four years. After falling to 0-4 in league play last season, Lehigh won its last three games in thrilling fashion to slide into the fourth seed in the league tournament.

Newcomer Boston University was predicted to win the league after finishing 12-6-1 in 2012 including a perfect 8-0-0 record in America East plays. The Terriers garnered 152 points and 12 first-place votes while Navy came in a close second with 144 points. Defending Patriot League Champion Colgate was third with 138 points while new league member Loyola came in fourth (101 points), Army fifth (98) and Lehigh sixth (73).

Bucknell (69 points), American (47), Holy Cross (47) and Lafayette (31) round out the poll.

Madison Clemens of Boston University was named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year while Jade Seabrook garnered Defensive Player of the Year laurels.

The Mountain Hawks are hard at work preparing for their season opener when they host Monmouth on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m.
