McBride named PCL Player of the Month for May

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Former Lehigh baseball standout Matt McBride was named Pacific Coast League Player of the Month earlier this week after leading all of Minor League Baseball with 31 RBI in May. The Bethlehem native also led the PCL in slugging percentage (.811) and OPS (1.195) last month. McBride is enjoying a tremendous season for AAA Colorado Springs, hitting .323 with 13 home runs and 38 RBI.McBride has three multi-home run games in 2013, most recently hitting two on Monday night against Salt Lake City. He has moved back to his college position (catcher) this season while also seeing time at first base and in the outfield. McBride was featured as the top story on MiLB.com after a 5-for-5 night with two home runs and six RBI in a 9-1 win at Albuquerque on May 22.
McBride made his Major League debut for Colorado last August, playing 31 games while hitting two home runs and 11 RBI.
