BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh seniors David DiMaria, Dante Fantoni, Mike Noone and Ryan Snyder will suit up for the South on Friday for the 72nd annual USILA/LaxWorld Division I-II Senior North-South Game. Opening faceoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa. Lehigh's four representatives mark the most from any school nationally and break last year's school record of three Mountain Hawks to play in the game.
Friday's game will be played at Edith Robb Dixon Field on the campus of Cabrini College. DiMaria, Snyder and Noone will wear their familiar numbers (1, 22 and 23) while Fantoni will don number seven.
Lehigh has seen an increase in participants from two in 2011 (Will Scudder and Jonathan Stumpf) to three in 2012 (Adam Johnston, Cameron Lao-Gosney and Roman Lao-Gosney) to now four this year.
Bucknell's Mike Huffner and Colgate's Matt Baker and Peter Baum round out the Patriot League players in the game.
DiMaria led the Lehigh offense with career highs in goals (33), assists (40) and points (73) this season. The point total also led the Patriot League as he earned All-League laurels for a second straight season and was also named a Tewaaraton Award Candidate. DiMaria posted five or more points in each of his last four games, including 11 over two Patriot League Tournament contests to earn Tournament MVP honors. He had a hand in five of Lehigh's seven goals in the NCAA Tournament at North Carolina with two goals and three assists. DiMaria finished his career with 205 points.
Fantoni continued his consistent play, reaching the 40-point plateau for a fourth straight season. He finished third on the team with 47 points behind 27 goals and 20 assists. The Hauppauge, N.Y. native eclipsed five points on five occasions, including a career-high tying six points in the regular season against Colgate. Fantoni had seven points in the Patriot League Tournament to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team for a second straight season.
Snyder won 49 percent of his faceoffs while scooping 74 groundballs on the season to earn Second Team All-Patriot League honors - his third straight season with All-Patriot League recognition. Snyder dominated First Team honoree Alex Daly of Army, winning 13-of-17 while winning 14-of-17 against Saint Joseph's and 8-of-9 vs. VMI. He wrapped up his career with 313 groundballs, second in Patriot League history, and was named a USILA Scholar All-American on Tuesday.
Noone continued his strong play from 2012 by earning a spot on the All-Patriot League First Team. Anchoring one of the nation's top defenses, the Mountain Hawks allowed just 7.94 goals per game and held opponents to seven or fewer goals in eight of the final 10 contests. Noone finished with 33 groundballs and a team-leading 26 caused turnovers. He enjoyed a monster game against Penn with five groundballs and a career-high six caused turnovers.
Lehigh wrapped up its second straight Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tournament campaign with a 12-5 record, becoming the first team in the league with back-to-back championships since Navy six years ago.
