Mountain Hawks continue success at Neuweiler Plate

LEWISBERRY, Pa. - The Lehigh rowing team continued its success at the Neuweiler Plate by winning all but two races to capture its third straight Neuweiler Plate crown on Saturday. An overall team effort saw the Mountain Hawks win nine races, including the Women's Freshmen Four by a significant margin over the second place finisher.

“I think it was a collective team effort that continues to show our gradual improvement over the years,” said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. “To be able to retain the trophy as we have is a tribute to the athletes to stay focused to the task at hand.”

The success at the Neuweiler Plate continues for third-year head coach Brian Conley. Two years ago, the Mountain Hawks won the overall team trophy before the men finished first last year, and the women second.

Lehigh won nine of 11 races it entered as the squad continues to improve and take strides heading into the stretch run of the spring season. For the complete listing of results, please see below.

“Today was the first time I've seen the team collectively perform at the level we've expected them to perform,” said Conley. “This is the type of sport that we're in it as a team. Today was just a great day top to bottom.”

The Mountain Hawks will return to action at the Knecht Cup next Saturday (Apr. 13).
