BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh head  women's lacrosse coach Jill Redfern announced the team's 2013 award winners on Tuesday. Senior Julie McBrien garnered Athlete of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year while sophomore Kelly Scott earned the Coaches Award.

McBrien enjoyed a stellar senior season on and off the field, earning Second Team All-Patriot League and Academic All-League honors. She finished the season with a team-leading and career-high 33 goals and 36 points. She posted five hat tricks on the year and garnered Patriot League Midfielder of the Week laurels on Mar. 25.

It marks the second straight season McBrien garnered the team's Scholar-Athlete award. She owns a 3.54 GPA as a double major in Finance and Marketing. McBrien has been a consistent member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and has made the Dean's List several semesters, including each of the past three.

Sophomore Kelly Scott earned the Coaches Award, presented to the individual who made significant contributions to the well-being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement or special leadership. Scott finished with 23 groundballs (second on the team to only McBrien) along with a team-leading 18 caused turnovers. Scott helped anchor the defense which allowed just six goals to Lafayette, six to Howard and nine against Big East foe Villanova.

Lehigh wrapped up its season at 4-12 and 1-5 in Patriot League play, but a young team showed strong flashes. The Mountain Hawks dropped two one-goal finals in league play while enjoying impressive stretches against some of the nation's best.
