Lehigh posts 6-1 win over Monmouth Tuesday afternoon

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In its first match in nine days, the Lehigh women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 win over Monmouth Tuesday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks swept three doubles matches and won five of six singles matches to improve to 4-11 on the spring season.
Sophomore Molly Brooks delivered the clinching point at No. 5 singles, while freshman Marian Prim posted her first career singles win with a straight set triumph at No. 6 singles.
Lehigh dominated the doubles matches, dropping just three combined games. Brooks and sophomore Emily Bruch blanked Sarah Turner and Liz D'Arcy at the No. 3 flight, while the Mountain Hawks top two teams dropped just one and two games, respectively. yed at No. 2 doubles.Bilimoria opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Nicole Lippens at the top flight, while Farrell fell 6-1, 6-4 to Brooke Verdiglione at the No. 2 flight for Monmouth's only point.
Bruch put Lehigh ahead 3-1 with a 6-3, 7-5 over Dana Ferrari at the No. 4 flight before Brooks clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Turner at No. 5 singles.
Spring newcomer Prim earned her first varsity point with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 win over D'Arcy at sixth singles, while Kaminetsky closed out the match with a third-set ten-point tiebreak win over Ashley Sandler at No. 3 singles.
The Mountain Hawks will play their next four matches against Patriot League opponents beginning Sunday when they travel to Colgate to face the Raiders at 10 a.m.
