McBrien named to Academic All-Patriot League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh senior midfielder Julie McBrien has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, as announced late Tuesday. McBrien wrapped up a stellar four-year career on the field last week, posting 36 points for a second straight season while enjoying tremendous success in the classroom as well.
McBrien owns a 3.54 GPA as a double major in Finance and Marketing. She's been a consistent member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and has made the Dean's List several semesters, including each of the past three. She has also garnered the Faculty Athletics Council Award.
On the field, McBrien impressed with a team-leading 33 goals and 36 points during her senior campaign. It was a career high for goals while tying a career high for points. McBrien scored three or more goals on five occasions this season and was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Week on Mar. 25. She was named a Second Team All-Patriot League performer for the third time in her four-year career.
Bucknell junior Katelyn Miller was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. McBrien was one of 12 student-athletes named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
Lehigh wrapped up its season at 4-12 and 1-5 in Patriot League play, but a young team showed strong flashes. The Mountain Hawks dropped two one-goal finals in league play while enjoying impressive stretches against some of the nation's best.
