PRINCETON, N.J. – Between the Greyhound Invitational at Moravian and Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational, the Lehigh men's track and field team continued to pace itself with strong finishes in multiple events.
“We had solid and competitive performances all around, and it was definitely a good tune up for the Patriot League Championships,” Lehigh head coach Matt Utesch said.
Junior captain Patrick Ciez leaped 2.03 meters in the high jump for the second consecutive meet at Moravian and won the event. Sophomore Adeolu Adesida finished second with the same mark, as Ciez was able to clear 1.98 meters in an earlier attempt. Junior Benjamin Beauchamp also led Lehigh's field athletes with a distance of 46.53 meters in the discus throw.
The Mountain Hawks had a one, two, three finish in the 1500 meter run between junior Samuel Bernitt taking first (3:56.62), junior Nicholas Molloy coming in second (3:57.70) and sophomore Simon Voorhees finishing in third (3:57.73). The 4x100 meter relay team was also a top finisher at the meet, completing the event in 42.52 seconds.
Junior James Miller, sophomore Ryan Mahalsky, freshman Evan Hardy and senior Lyle O'Brien competed in the 5000 meter run at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Sophomore Christopher Watson placed 26th out of 50 competitors in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:53.37.
The Mountain Hawks will compete in the Penn Relays, which last from Thursday to Saturday, while also hosting the Lehigh Games on Friday and Saturday at the Goodman Campus.
