Lehigh enjoys success at Rutgers Fall Classic

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh rowing team wrapped up its fall schedule at the Rutgers Fall Classic on Saturday. An up-and-down performance saw the Mountain Hawks learn a lot about themselves leading into winter training and the all-important spring schedule.
"I think we had some really good highs and some really good lows today," said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. "The competition that we raced was very different and there was a greater quantity of higher level competition on the men's side. The men struggled a little bit, but overall handled it pretty well as a team."
The Women's Varsity Four highlighted Lehigh's effort, coming in third place. The final team results were based on the top two boats for a particular school. The Mountain Hawks' A, B and C boats all enjoyed success, coming in fifth, seventh and eighth, respectively.
This fall has been all about seeing where the team fares against outside competition.
"I think this fall, we've definitely established an expectation of rising to the next level," said Conley. "Racing at a high level, we know we now go indoors and have to make ourselves faster for the spring."
"The fall races allow the teams to understand where they stand," Conley continued. "The spring is still wide open and a lot will be determined on how hard we train in the winter."
