BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh field hockey team wraps up its season on Saturday with a Senior Day matchup against American. Lehigh will recognize seniors Erinn Bonshak, Marie Mignogna and Caitlyn Mitchell prior to their final game in the Brown and White. The game will begin at 12 p.m. and will air live for free on the Patriot League Network.

Lehigh enters Saturday's game with a 3-14 overall record, with many close defeats against strong opponents. The Mountain Hawks are eying their first Patriot League win of the season. American enters with a 5-0 league record and 11-5 overall mark, having clinched the regular season title and the right to host the Patriot League Tournament.

Lehigh hasn't played at home since Oct. 13, a big 2-1 win against Lock Haven. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a tough stretch of road games where they suffered three hard-fought losses in seven days. In its most recent matchup, Lehigh fell 4-1 to Holy Cross. The Crusaders never trailed, gaining an early 3-0 lead before Lehigh could get on the board. Freshman Marissa Glatt scored the only goal for the Mountain Hawks on an assist by fellow freshman Amanda Granger.

Glatt leads the team, and Patriot League, with 25 points on the season behind a league-leading 12 goals and an assist. Freshman Gabby Tofig sits in second with 11 points behind four goals and three assists. She also has 34 shots, good for second on the team. Mitchell sits in a tie for second in goals, adding four in her senior campaign.

American is coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to William & Mary that snapped a three-game winning streak. The Eagles tied up the score midway through the second half, but were downed 12 minutes into overtime on a goal off a penalty corner. Less than two weeks ago, the Eagles picked up a huge 4-3 win over #2 UConn to jump into the national polls themselves. Junior Grace Wilson has paced American's offense, leading the team in goals and points with eight and 17, respectively.

Lehigh has never beaten American, coming in at 0-15 all-time against the Eagles. The first meeting came in 2001 with American taking the most recent game, 9-2.

In honor of Senior Day, here is a special Q&A with the Mountain Hawks' three seniors.

The Lehigh field hockey senior class is small in size, but large in impact. This class has seen its fair share of highlights, capped off by a sophomore season which saw the Mountain Hawks clinch the #3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament. Lehigh earned a big 1-0 win over Bucknell and finished 3-2 in league play for the first time since 2007. This trio has helped the program raise its level of play, hanging tough against nationally-ranked caliber competition this season including a big 2-1 win over Lock Haven which entered 10-3 and has lost only one game since.

#5 Erinn Bonshak - Defense - Whitehall, Pa. - Civil Engineering
Erinn Bonshak
A walk-on, Bonshak has persevered through injuries to put forth an impressive career in the Brown and White. The local product played in two games as a freshman, four as a sophomore and a career-high eight last year. Bonshak has served as a role model for the younger players as one of the first players to the field and one of the last to leave. She has been active off the field as a member of Student-Athlete Council.

What's your favorite Lehigh field hockey memory up until this point?
EB: My favorite memory is when we beat Lock Haven this season. We played one of our best games of hockey and never gave up. It showed how hard we worked this season.

Describe the relationship with your fellow seniors.
EB: Living with Marie and Caitey these past two years has been a blast. They are my best friends. I couldn't imagine graduating and experiencing Senior Day with anyone else.

Describe the feeling going into Senior Day. What are some of the thoughts going through your mind?
EB: It's crazy that this has quickly come to an end. I will truly miss seeing LUFH every day. Looking back to freshman year, it all seems like yesterday. I cannot believe that we will all be stepping on that field for one last time.

What will you miss most about Lehigh field hockey?
EB: I will miss the memories that I make every day with these girls. We are tight knit and it's going to be hard to say goodbye to all of them. We will always be a family.

What are your postgraduate plans?
EB: I am looking for a position in the Civil Engineering field.

#8 Caitlyn Mitchell - Forward - Spring City, Pa. - Sociology/Social Psychology
Caitlyn Mitchell
Mitchell has excelled offensively, highlighted by a breakout senior season. The Spring City, Pennsylvania native appeared in eight games as a freshman, 17 as a sophomore and 16 as a junior. She entered this season with two goals and an assist, but has four goals and two assists this year. Mitchell scored the game-tying goal in Lehigh's big 2-1 win over Lock Haven this season. In the classroom, Mitchell has garnered the Faculty Athletics Council Award for a GPA over 3.2.

What's your favorite Lehigh field hockey memory up until this point?
CM: It's so hard to pinpoint just one memory since I have thousands of favorite memories, but I think I would have to say my first career goal. It was a home game against La Salle and I remember Abby Tilton crossed a ball in front of the cage that I deflected into the air past the keeper. It was such a fantastic moment because whenever I score a goal or our team wins a game, it just reminds me why I love field hockey and have dedicated so much of my life to it.

Describe the relationship with your fellow seniors.
CM: The three of us have been through so much throughout the past four years and I could not think of two other girls I would have rather had by my side. We hit it off right since day one and we've never looked back. We all have such different personalities, but we balance each other well. I think it's helpful for the team morale that we have great relationships even off of the field.

Describe the feeling going into Senior Day. What are some of the thoughts going through your mind?
CM: I think the entire idea is completely surreal. I know that personally the fact that my athletic career is coming to a close has not sunk in yet. It just feels like another season ending and I should just start preparing for the next. I think once the rest of the girls start practicing again, it will all become more real for me, but it's very sad being part of a team like I have been for 10 years and this chapter of my life is ending.

What will you miss most about Lehigh field hockey?
CM: I'll miss my second family. I know that I can always rely on LUFH not just on the field, but off of it as well. No matter the cause, I know that I can always count on them to have my back. The relationships that I've made throughout my career here are unlike any others and I truly feel that they will last a lifetime. I'll miss all of these girls like crazy.

What are your postgraduate plans?
CM: When I graduate in May, I plan to either continue my schooling to become a registered nurse, or find a job in the healthcare field where I can use the degree I earned at Lehigh to help people.

Marie Mignogna
A 2011 All-Patriot League honoree, Mignogna has been a starter since day one. The Voorhees, New Jersey native played in 16 games as a freshman (starting 14), while starting all 36 games over her sophomore and junior years. Mignogna added six defensive saves last year while scoring her first-career goal at Bucknell. This season, Mignogna has battled an injury but has still played in 13 games (starting 11) while making a pair of defensive saves. A two-year captain, Mignogna has been heavily involved in Lehigh's leadership programs. She's been a Student-Athlete Mentor and is currently a member of Lehigh's Leadership Legacies program.

What's your favorite Lehigh field hockey memory up until this point?
MM: My favorite Lehigh field hockey memory would definitely be my sophomore year when we beat Bucknell 1-0. I felt that collectively as a team, we put everything into that game, because it would decide if we made it to the Patriot League Tournament or not. I remember ending that game without an ounce of energy left, but the satisfaction of beating them made everything worth it. It really showed our true talent and potential.

Describe the relationship with your fellow seniors.
MM: Our relationship as seniors is unlike any class I've seen. We are truly sisters. We've been together since day one and despite the changes and difficulties we've faced, we have stood by one another. You spend every minute with your teammates throughout the year, and especially the teammates within your class, so it creates a really special bond. They've seen me at my worst and my best and still love me so that's something to cherish.

Describe the feeling going into Senior Day. What are some of the thoughts going through your mind?
MM: I don't think It's hit me yet that my career is about to end. The past 11 years of my life have even centered around field hockey so being done is unimaginable. This sport has given me my best friends, my best memories and the opportunity to attend this amazing university. I owe all of my success and character to it. It's going to be an adjustment without the thought of practice and games, but I'm ready to take the next step of my life and move on to wherever my journey takes me. Field hockey will always be a part of who I am.

What will you miss most about Lehigh field hockey?
MM: I will miss everything but I think mostly, I will miss my team as well as the feeling of playing in a game. I put a lot of heart into each game when I step onto the field. There's no feeling like it. My team is filled with amazing women who have come to be my family. I'm not ready to accept the fact that I won't be part of that directly, but I'm lucky to know I will always have them in my life.

What are your postgraduate plans?
MM: Upon graduation, I will be looking for a career in communications, specifically Public Relations and Advertising.
