Mountain Hawks reflect on season at annual banquet

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's soccer looked back at its 2012 season at the team's annual banquet on Sunday, Jan. 13 at the University Center on campus. Players and coaches reflected on a season that saw the Mountain Hawks reach their second Patriot League Tournament in the last three years, winning three straight games down the stretch in dramatic fashion. Team awards were also presented to three student-athletes who displayed excellence on and off the field.
Athlete of the Year, presented to junior Murphee Greeley, was awarded to the student-athlete who made the most outstanding athletic contributions to the accomplishments of the team. Greeley increased her point total for a third straight season, leading the team in goals (6) and points (14) while adding two assists. An All-Patriot League honoree for a second straight season, Greeley was one of only three Mountain Hawks to start all 18 games. She scored a pair of goals on two occasions, against defending NCAA Tournament squad La Salle and in Lehigh's Patriot League Tournament clinching win over Holy Cross.
Presented to a team member who demonstrates outstanding academic performance, sophomore Darby Dustman earned Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors. The native of Salt Lake City, Utah owns a GPA over 3.8 while excelling on the field as well. Dustman posted a 3.88 GPA this past fall as an Industrial Engineering major. On the field, she scored three goals, all coming in Lehigh victories: vs. Marist, Bucknell and Colgate. She scored the game-winners against Bucknell and Colgate to earn Patriot League Offensive of the Week laurels, as those victories helped propel Lehigh to the Patriot League Tournament.
The Coaches Award, awarded to senior Isabelle Li, was presented to the team member who exemplifies outstanding work ethic, on and off the field. Li enjoyed a strong senior season, tying a career high with five points behind a goal and team-leading three assists. She fired 25 shots and 13 shots on goal, both third on the team. Li's biggest moment came against Bucknell when she scored the overtime game-winner. She was one of three Lehigh players to start all 18 games as her leadership proved critical for a young Mountain Hawk squad.
Lehigh finished its season with a 5-13 record, 3-4 in Patriot League play, and qualified for the Patriot League tournament after winning its final three regular season games against Patriot League opposition. Following the campaign, freshman defender Paige Elliot was named a First Team All-Patriot League performer and Greeley earned second team honors. Lehigh graduates four seniors and returns 18 underclassmen for next season.
