Poillon named top freshman by Inside Lacrosse

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's lacrosse goalie Matt Poillon was named the nation's top freshman in Inside Lacrosse's Final Freshmen Rankings released Thursday. Poillon, who also earned the top spot in the early-season rankings, finished second nationally in goals against average (6.75) and fourth in save percentage (59.7). He tied a career-high 16 saves in the NCAA Tournament vs. Maryland, stopping all six third-quarter shots sent his way.
The honorable mention All-American and Patriot League Goalie of the Year garnered six Patriot League weekly awards - Goalie of the Week four times and Rookie of the Week twice - while also earning Cascade National Rookie of the Week on two occasions.
 
Poillon made double-digit saves nine times, including each of his last two contests.
