Torcivia named Academic All-Patriot League

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh senior midfielder Leigh Ann Torcivia has earned a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team for her stellar work on the field and in the classroom. One of only six student-athletes named First Team All-League and Academic All-League, Torcivia was the team's 2011 Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient. On the field, she finished second on the team with 44 points (24 goals, team-leading 20 assists) this past season.
Torcivia joins Emily Burton and Kimberly Collins of American along with Jasmine DePompeo, Kathy Young and Kierstin King of Navy as the only Academic All-Patriot League members also named First Team All-League.
Torcivia owns a strong 3.40 GPA as a Psychology major and Business minor. She was a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2010 and '11, garnering the Faculty Athletics Council Award as well. She's also earned a spot on the Dean's List with a GPA over 3.60, including this past fall.
On the field, Torcivia was just as strong, earning All-League honors each of her four years while garnering All-Region laurels last year as well. The team co-captain transitioned from defense to midfield this season and impressed on both ends of the field. Along with her 44 points, she also posted a team-leading 36 groundballs and 17 caused turnovers while finishing second with 37 draw controls. Torcivia finished her career with 50 points (44 this season), 163 groundballs, 159 draw controls and 58 caused turnovers.
